August 25, 2011

I have had such a great week and a half. So many miracle have happened. It is great to hear from you and to know that everything is alright. So school has started for Riley, that's good keep him busy. There is no time to be Idle. Thank you for the thought on "power", during the Book of Mormon challenge I highlight power every time to show the attributes the Lord has. I am still moving along with the Book of Mormon challenge and I am now in Alma 39. I am learning so much from it.

My last moments with Elder Caballero went by way to quick and it was sad to see him go. I enjoyed my time serving with him and I also had learned a lot from him. One thing that I have learned is how to gain the trust from the members. He is really good at working with the members and I have grown to love being in the Rossendale Valley ward because of it. He is also a great teacher and I have picked up on my own teaching skills from him. But now I have begun a new chapter in the mission.

Last week serving with Elder Taotua was amazing. He is from Auckland, New Zealand as I have mentioned. His family is from Samoa. We worked hard wit much diligence.Serving with Elder Taotua was the best. We saw so many miracle and it brought us true happiness doing the Lords work. We had many great experiences, one that I want to share is that we had a service project that was designed to fellowship a less active member at the age of 24. We were able to have him help us and afterwards we shared with him a scripture about service. After the brief spiritual thought, he was filled with the Spirit and said it had been a long time since he has felt this way. We called him the next day and invited him to church and he gladly accepted. The church experience was so great and the blessings for him were almost immediate. He is looking to obtain a job and has had some challenges finding one. During a Sunday class, he was offered a job and now he is going in for an interview very soon. I was so glad to see the happiness he showed that Sunday. The benefits of service are great and true happiness is the reward of doing so.

Another experience we had was a new investigator we received through a referral from the Bishop. The referral was for a elderly woman who was looking to take down an old shed in her backyard. We stopped by and said we would be willing to do that for her and that it would be just an act of service. Came back that same day and started to tear it down with a pair of hammers. Who knew service could be so much fun. We continued on and the following day we finished taking it down for her. We had also an opportunity to teach her about the restoration message. She was very receptive to the Spirit and we had a spiritual experience talking about Joseph Smith. She now wants to continue meeting and eventually be baptised when her daughter (who's been a member for three years) comes down to visit from Glasgow in October. Once again, service opens up so many blessings for missionary work.
Now I am back in Rossendale Valley. I have a great new companion. His name is Elder Rapata. He is also from Auckland, New Zealand. He is a hard working missionary. I will get a picture for you on Monday. We are already off to a good start and I can see this transfer is going to fantastic!

Thus far being with Elder Rapata has been absolutely a blessing from the Lord. I am so looking forward to this transfer and can't wait to see all the mighty miracles that are about to happen. He is definitely a hard working missionary and a great companion that I can look up to and learn from. I am so grateful for being with such a companion in Rossendale Valley.

Well that's the last week and a half for yah. Hope you have a great weekend and I'll talk to you on Monday.

Love Elder Tucker Corbin
