March 19, 2012

Thanks for emailing me. Now is our time to prepare. I am so glad to hear that things are going well. I love the family so much and I pray for all of you every day. There hasn't been a day where I haven't thought of my family. Doesn't mean I'm home sick, you all just mean a lot to me. I am happy to know all is well.Keep pressing forward. I have had a great week. So here it is...

What a great week here is Stockport. I am still so excited about church yesterday. It was amazing! There were four less-active members show up (two of which have not come to church in a long time), a recent convert show up (Lesley Whalen; she is doing well, we see her quite often and we were able to paint some walls at her home this week), and two dated investigators (Stephen Carroll who is being taught by Elder Ford and I; Janet Ashorkeji who is being taught by Elder Herrin and Webster). I am so excited for this ward. With the addition of the senior couple Elder and Sister Forsyth, thing are definitely going smoothly. As things are planned we are looking forward to having two baptisms in Stockport on the twenty-fourth of this month. I am loving the service!

I had the opportunity to go on two exchanges this week. One with Elder Smart and the other with Elder Herrin. While serving with Elder Smart on our exchange, I was able to learn so much from him. I  learned most from him is how to ask the right questions at the right times. He reminded me the importance of meaningful and inspired questions. I am grateful for that and what he has taught me to refine my teaching skills. He is such a great missionary.

On the Exchange with Elder Herrin, we saw so many miracles. One thing that stuck out to me the most is his ability to identify the needs of those we teach. In any quality gospel conversation he know exactly what the person needs to hear at that time. That also links back to asking inspired questions which leads to teaching to their needs. We were able to teach two on the spot lessons that day. Both lessons they accepted to be baptised and to have the restored gospel in their lives. It was so great to serve with Elder Herrin. One year ago in the MTC we would have never even thought it would happen.

We have such a great district in Stockport. Elder and Sister Forsyth fit right in now being here two weeks. They are so great. Always, they have a positive attitude for the work. Elder Ford and Elder Webster are both superstars! Elder Herrin and I both agree that they are both on a higher level of missionary work then we were in our first transfer. They are examples to Elder Herrin and I and have such a strong desire to serve the Lord. They understand how great their calling is! Stockport is having a great Transfer!

Stephen is doing great. He is progressing very well. He is set on being baptised and if all goes as planned he will on the twenty-fourth this month. His prayers have really developed and he has gained much strength in his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ! I am so happy for him. The only thing that would keep him from being baptised is us. And we wouldn't get him baptised if it were for the wrong reasons. So we are very bold with him and make sure that he takes the things seriously. He has given up coffee and tea. He reads and prays daily. He loves all the members of the ward and has made many friends. He claims that this has changes his life.

I hope you enjoy the week. Keep on smiling.

Love Elder Tucker Corbin
