Thank you for your inspring email. I really enjoyed it. I am so happy for Brandon, he is going to love his mission. He will be a great missionary. That scripture you shared with me is so true. If we are able to just "liken" the scriptures to us we will benefit from the scriptures for our own profit and learning (1 Nephi 19:23). The best part is that it works for anyone and everyone. That is only one way how the Lord loves us and that alone is so great. Elder Ford and I are doing great, this week has been amazing here is how it went...
It has been a marvelous week end and I am so happy to share it with you. First off, I will tell you about Gerald Dwyer. We met Gerald by just randomly knocking on his door out of spontaneity. He welcomed us in on a Friday night and we were able to teach him about the restoration. Elder Ford is great, he teaches like someone who has been in the field for many months, he is making excellent progress. We both taught in unity to Gerald. Gerald was so receptive to the spirit. He accepted to come to church early in the lesson and also to prepare for baptism on March 10. Sunday morning we went by to pick him up to walk to church with him and as we walked up to his front door, he just walked out all ready to go. He really enjoyed the sacrament service and was really into the hymns. We called him later last night to follow up with him on church and he said he loved it. The whole experience is just perfect. Elder Ford has enjoyed the journey so far. We are doing so well together and his faith is leading the way.
Also to our surprise, a young man named Herman I met at the bus stop a few Fridays ago came to church. I remember our discussion we had that night. He had some alcohol with him that night and I told him that it was not good for him. After we had talked for a while which continued onto the bus, I invited him to come to church and he told me he would come. He missed last Sunday, but earlier last week he felt that it was necessary to show up. He seemed to know some of the members of the ward already which was a huge benefit for him. After church he asked us for a Book of Mormon, so we gave him a Book of Mormon! We are meeting with him this week and we can't wait. He has so much that awaits him at the age of nineteen.
The infield training program is great. Elder Ford and I are both learning things from it. The whole process is very interactive and beneficial for both of us. Elder Ford is really moving along strong, His faith will move mountains. I am also so happy for Elder Herrin and Elder Webster. They are doing so well and the work is moving forward with their diligent effort. One thing that stands out to me from Elder Ford is that he has a great love for the scriptures. He is always going through the pages of the sacred text. He inspires me and motivated me to be more Christlike. I am so grateful to serve with him.
Speak to you next week.
Love, Elder Tucker Corbin
