May 23, 2011

Thanks for writing me this week. Just another week has gone by and now i am stating to fell like time is counting on me wrather than me counting time. I know i still have a large chunck ahead of me but I also know if i dont take my time every once in a while ill miss out and it will be over before i know it. I got a letter from Nana and from uncle David today, What a surprise. I was so excited to get them, they are so nice.
This week we had some great things happen. One is that I had an exchange with Elder Brussard, who is from Northern Ireland, and that was a great experience. It was the first real time that I felt that I had been placed with the majority of the responsibility for the area. It was also the first time being on an exchange and staying in my area, I usually go to the other area to stay the night. I really feel that I had grown as a missionary and that I am more capable of taking on the responsabilities of being in an area which I am more familiar with than the other companion. Elder Brussard is a great missionary too, he is always looking at the positives and that is definately something I need to work on. He also showed me some pictures of him and Skyler Ridley when he was in the mission.

During the exchange, we tracted a home when a 15 year old boy named Lee Williams (not a coincedence) answered and we were able to share with him about the restoration. We had a great lesson and committed him to read, pray, and be baptised which he accepted all of them. I am so excited for him and can wait to see him again.

We went up to Mostyn and we went to see Deb. She is so good, I just am so grateful we found her. She is progressing quickly for the amount of time we have visited her and she also gives us referals for her friends and family. We also found out that Chris, who lives a few streets over that we had taught the Restoration lesson with, is her brother. I really think it was meant for us to go up there and we are finding a lot of success in Mostyn. They are really nice people as well. I can't wait until we go up there again.

Liam gave us another chance to come teach him and it was a great success. We thought he was gone for good when he dropped us right after the first time he went to sacrament meeting. We ran into him recently on the street by the Town Center and he alowed us to come teach him once more. We showed him how he can become a better person, because that is what he wants to be, and that was through God. Unfortunately, he has his head molded to the big bang theory and evolution and he finds it hard to give faith a chance. The lesson we had was very good and we committed him to read and pray and also to come to church again. This time he was all excited about praying and reading and coming to church. We got a text message from him saying he prayed for his family and son and that he was coming to church on Sunday. We also called him the next day and interupted him while he was reading in Moroni. I am so excited for him but we know he will take some time to continue to progress but I know that if we are patient and we keep him in our prayers, he can come around to be a firm believer in Jesus Christ.

So we have sports day on wednesday and that is where we all gather in Manchester to play sports all day. Yeah! Somehow it has gotten around the mission that im the best basketball player in the mission, I promise i said nothing. It was probably elder Herrin and Elder Smith from the MTC who told everyone. Too bad im going to let everyone down because im no good anymore.

I am also doing this thing called the Book of Mormon Challenge (found on pg 114 in preach my gospel). It is really interesting and I am learning a lot. it gets trickey sometimes because I cant tell if it is talking about the savior of the father. Take a look at it in rileys pmg sometime.

Hope you have a great week bye now!

Love Elder Tucker Corbin
