May 23, 2011

Thanks for writing me this week. Just another week has gone by and now i am stating to fell like time is counting on me wrather than me counting time. I know i still have a large chunck ahead of me but I also know if i dont take my time every once in a while ill miss out and it will be over before i know it. I got a letter from Nana and from uncle David today, What a surprise. I was so excited to get them, they are so nice.
This week we had some great things happen. One is that I had an exchange with Elder Brussard, who is from Northern Ireland, and that was a great experience. It was the first real time that I felt that I had been placed with the majority of the responsibility for the area. It was also the first time being on an exchange and staying in my area, I usually go to the other area to stay the night. I really feel that I had grown as a missionary and that I am more capable of taking on the responsabilities of being in an area which I am more familiar with than the other companion. Elder Brussard is a great missionary too, he is always looking at the positives and that is definately something I need to work on. He also showed me some pictures of him and Skyler Ridley when he was in the mission.

During the exchange, we tracted a home when a 15 year old boy named Lee Williams (not a coincedence) answered and we were able to share with him about the restoration. We had a great lesson and committed him to read, pray, and be baptised which he accepted all of them. I am so excited for him and can wait to see him again.

We went up to Mostyn and we went to see Deb. She is so good, I just am so grateful we found her. She is progressing quickly for the amount of time we have visited her and she also gives us referals for her friends and family. We also found out that Chris, who lives a few streets over that we had taught the Restoration lesson with, is her brother. I really think it was meant for us to go up there and we are finding a lot of success in Mostyn. They are really nice people as well. I can't wait until we go up there again.

Liam gave us another chance to come teach him and it was a great success. We thought he was gone for good when he dropped us right after the first time he went to sacrament meeting. We ran into him recently on the street by the Town Center and he alowed us to come teach him once more. We showed him how he can become a better person, because that is what he wants to be, and that was through God. Unfortunately, he has his head molded to the big bang theory and evolution and he finds it hard to give faith a chance. The lesson we had was very good and we committed him to read and pray and also to come to church again. This time he was all excited about praying and reading and coming to church. We got a text message from him saying he prayed for his family and son and that he was coming to church on Sunday. We also called him the next day and interupted him while he was reading in Moroni. I am so excited for him but we know he will take some time to continue to progress but I know that if we are patient and we keep him in our prayers, he can come around to be a firm believer in Jesus Christ.

So we have sports day on wednesday and that is where we all gather in Manchester to play sports all day. Yeah! Somehow it has gotten around the mission that im the best basketball player in the mission, I promise i said nothing. It was probably elder Herrin and Elder Smith from the MTC who told everyone. Too bad im going to let everyone down because im no good anymore.

I am also doing this thing called the Book of Mormon Challenge (found on pg 114 in preach my gospel). It is really interesting and I am learning a lot. it gets trickey sometimes because I cant tell if it is talking about the savior of the father. Take a look at it in rileys pmg sometime.

Hope you have a great week bye now!

May 16, 2011

Its good to hear from you again. This week went by so fast and there are so many great things that happened. I am so glad to know that everything is going great back home and that everyone is ok. Tell Riley I say hi and I miss him and that he needs to keep working hard.

This week I have been spending a lot of time in my personal study learning about the Holy Ghost. I was reading in the Book of Mormon about Jesus in the Americas when he tells everyone that the Holy Ghost bears witness of the Father and Him. That got me thinking about how Heavenly Father wants us to returt to live with him and tells us to listen and fallow Jesus Christ and Jesus tells us that we need to listen to the Holy Ghost to have a testimony of him. It really made me think how imortant the Holy Ghost is and now it makes me more concious for the promptings of the Spirit.

We had the Assistants come down for an exchange on Thursday and they were with us as we had our weekly planning and gave us a few great tips on how to use the time more wisely. It is always good advice when it comes from experienced missionaries like Elder Gallacher and Kersey. We also had a great day in the work as well. I went with Elder Kersey and I learned a lot from him. One thing I noticed from him was how persistant he was when having a conversation. I want to develope that over the next few months. I also got to know him a bit better and I am grateful for that.

When in Mostyn this week, Elder Eliason and I took a fellowshipper, who had just got off his mission in Canada, to a lesson with us. Unfortunately, the lesson fell through and we ended up tracting ou the street. We got into a home with Chris who is about twenty five and we had a very successful meeting with him. He is now a new investigator and he was excited about reading the Book of Mormon saying that he likes to read things like this. We are seeing him soon and I have a great feeling about Chris and his Desire to learn more.

Everything is great as you can tell in Wales. Elder Eliason and I are on Fire! I also found out that this area that I am serving in are the same streets that Dan Jones walked on preaching the Book of Mormon 150 something years ago. His wife is from Denbigh (sounds like Denby) which is right in our area and we have gone there a a few times. This place has so much history it is unbeleivable.

Well hope you have a great week and tell everyone I say hi.

Pictures May 9, 2011

-The back of my name badge. I have three thing on it.
       1) The saying that dad told me when I was having a tough time
       2) I was studying one morning and I came across that scripture. later that day I was on a bus and not too happy or          motivated and I thought to myself what i should do and the first thought to my mind was that scripture. So i bus contacted three people right away and it got me motivated to work hard all the time and speak to everyone.
       3) Liverpool Football Club. Motto is "you'll never walk alone", which means to me that my companion is always on my side.

Thanks for writing me again even though we talked on the phone yesterday. It was such a great experience and it only got me excited to go to work. Sounds like Riley is tearing it up, way to go! This up coming week is great, Elder Packer from the seventy is coming tomorrow and we get to hear him speak, i am so excited for that. Also, Elder Eliason and i are going on an exchange with the assistants on Wednesday. That is going to be great, it is a time for me to learn a lot.

Yes, Elder Donaldson was a great experience and I can assure you i will never forget it. The spirit was so strong when we were at his house and Sister Donaldson made the greatest dinner ever and the carrot cake after was wonderful. We had a great lesson with him also and we talked a lot about how we can find all the less actives and get them back to church. We are planning to go through the ward list with him sometime.

Zone conference was last week as well. President Bullock gave this great presentation on proving how the Book of Mormon is true. It was amazing. Ill try to send you a copy.

This last week we met David Gallacher who is from Liverpool and he is such an amazing person. He is about 21 years old and he has met with us three times in the last week since Tuesday. He texts us sometimes about how all this that we are sharing with him makes total sense.  I am so excited for him and can't wait to see him again. We planned for him to come to Church but unfortunately he couldn't make it. We are still planning to meet with him soon and help him with any questions that he has for us.

Well I hope you have a great week and I love you all!

May 3, 2011

Life had been great in Wales. This last week has been so fast, wow. We have a busy day today as well. Sorry I couldnt write you yesterday, it was a holiday and the library was closed. Today is great because we have a lesson with Lliam, who is an alcoholic and he wants to recover so were going to do everything we can to seek as much help as he can get from the Lord. He doesnt believe in God at all so we have to begin there.

We also have a great experience to have dinner at Elder Donadson home, from the seventy. He is so great, he is in the ward here in Rhyl and he got up to bear his testimony and it was so good. I can just feel the spirit when I am in his presence. So we have to be on our absolute best behavior tonight from good manners to sharing a good lesson. We prepared to shre a lesson on Ammon and how he is an example to the King by tending his horses.

Friday was the Royal Wedding. It was kind of boring and we got to watch it on television and an investigators house. But it was the biggest thing happening and everone treated it like a huge celabration. Flags were up with pictures of the couples faces on them and they were everywhere. We were walking outside and it was a ghost town becaus everyone was inside watching it. It was quite the experience I'll tell you what.

This last week I have learned a bit about faith and how important it is to obtain this Christlike attribute. I read that even seeing is not enough to believe and that it requires faith to see the miracles that god gives us in our lives. Instead of looking for ways that Heavenly Father didn't bless us, we need to look at all the blessings we have received and that is why I think that so many people deny their belief in God. We must study and pray often to keep that relationship and faith strong or it will slowly or even rapidly fall away.

On Sunday after dinner time, Elder Eliason and I said a prayer to begin finding again and we prayed that we may find a investigator that would be excited about the message of the restored gospel and the Book of Mormon. Right as we walked out to the street from our flat, we contacted a man named Nathan who was just riding his bike and we were able to have a lesson on the spot. It was such a great lesson and Nathan was so happy we ran into him. He accepted baptism and a date and was so excited to read from the Book of Mormon. I can't wait to meet with him again.

Thank you for all the support you give to me, it means a lot. I look forward from your emails and all the family's emails as well. Hope you have a wonderfull week, and tell everyone i say hi.
