Oct 17, 2011

Thank you for writing me I really enjoyed your letter. I'm glad to hear that you doing well and spending time with the boys. I know how much I would love to be a part of that but I also know how much more I am needed here in Telford. It is good to hear from Brother Badal, tell them I say "hello" back. Now that I think about it, I have come a long way in my teaching skills since the lessons we taught when we went home teaching. It is truly a blessing to have that progression in my life. That was a great story you told me from the return missionary. I love hearing great success stories like that, amazing. I am doing well on the bicycle. I am getting some great cardio exercise now, so that's good. My legs aren't all that sore so I'm OK with that. Thank you for the encouraging words also, truly motivates me and I can feel of your love.
It has been a very good week and I feel we have gotten to know the members better based on the fact that church felt like we had been there for a long time now. Church this week was a lot better than last week because members knew us and we didn't feel like new missionaries in the ward. We have also had positive feedback from the members and I am looking forward to what happens here with missionary work in the future.
Lynne, our dated investigator, is doing great and even though we didn't get around to her as much as I would have liked we have made contact with her everyday and following up with her on the commitments left and that has been huge in her progression. We gave her a baptismal calender and on it we went through and agreed what days we will be teaching her this week and we now have four lessons and we are planning on getting her in members homes also. I see great things from Lynne and she has so much potential. There was also a miracle with her too, she has very bad eye sight and she must look through a magnifying glass to read so she has been having trouble reading from the Book of Mormon. In personal study this past week, I found a cassette tape of the scriptures and it is a recording of a section of 3 Nephi. Now she can listen to the scriptures whenever she wants. I have no idea where that tape came from but I am glad it was in the shelf of my desk.
I really enjoyed specialized training this week. The Zone Leaders training on member work was great. It really motivated me and gave me a new list of options on how we can get members more involved in the work. I felt the spirit so strongly during the video that was in the Assistants training. It was about the Savior and the day he was crucified. There was also a song in the background that was playing and it was Redeemer of Israel. It is a great tune and it was played on a violin and also a piano. I look at that song in a whole new way and it makes me think more about the atonement in my life.
Elder Hill and I are moving along here in Telford and we are having a fun time serving in this area. The weather is getting a bit colder now and they are saying that it will be a mini ice age this winter. Oh No! I am expecting a package from mom with gloves in it but I have not yet received it so I am looking forward to getting that. Also any mail that will be sent to me please inform anyone and everyone that it needs to be sent to this address for me to get it the fastest and that I am guaranteed to get it.

Thank you for the uplifting words. I am so grateful for your love and support that you and the family give me. The emails I get absolutely make my week, I love it. Elder Hill and I are having so much fun serving together. I am so excited for the next two transfers (we will most likely be together for the next two transfers) here in Telford. So Elder Nelson came to visit again, that is great. I remember when he spoke a year ago at the stake conference. Such a strong spirit was felt when I shook his hand. Also a new stake president, nice one.

I am doing ok now with my new calling, but I still don't really have a clue at what I am doing. Elder Hill says that I am doing a good job so at least he is ok with it. I also forgot to mention last time about Telford. This area is a bike area, so I am a bit sore right now. Yesterday we had a big improvement, we got from a members home to a recent converts home without even looking at the map, so I think we are picking up the area pretty well. Now we just have to locate all the shortcuts.

I am sad to hear about Isabell. I remember her, she was a wonderful lady. I know she will receive great blessing in the life to come. Riley is preparing for the big season, tell him to keep working hard and to make it happen out there!

Elder Hill and I are getting to know the area a lot better now that we have been here nearly a week. I really enjoy being here and this is such a great place to serve. I really like the members also they make a great ward to serve with. Throughout the week we have made plenty of stops at members homes and got to meet them individually and personally. There are quite a few members we still have targeted that we are planning on getting to know better. So far Elder Hill and I love this ward. There are some amazing members that will help us so much in missionary work and bringing souls into the kingdom.Right now we are teaching a wonderful lady by the name of Lynne Kent. She is the mother of a recent convert in the ward named Debbie Sullivan. Sister Sullivan has such support for her and is making a strong effort to help her mother progress towards baptism. With her testimony and desire to bring her mother into the church I truly believe that we can. We had a great opportunity to bring Lynne to a baptism in Wrekin ward (the southern most part of the City of Telford) and she had felt the Spirit so strong she began to tear up a bit. We as missionaries are doing our best on helping her understand the restored gospel so that she is ready to be baptised.
This past week I have been studying on obedience. I have a testimony that being obedient you can receive numerous amounts of blessings. I strive to be obedient each and every day even with the small and simple things because I know that even the small and simple things make all the difference. Jesus Christ is a great example for obedience. He was completely and exactly obedient to everything his Father asked of him. Because of what he has done he sets the example for us and we must do what we can to follow Him.
I am really coming along with the Book of Mormon challenge. I am now in Helaman chapter five. I am learning and understanding so much from this experience of reading the Book of Mormon.
Well that's all for me, tell everyone that I say hi! talk to you next week.
Love Elder Corbin
