July 13, 2011

Good to hear from you, as you may know already, it was transfer week and nothing happened to Elder Caballero and I. So we are still together is wonderful Rossendale Valley. Unfortunately, this will be his last transfer until he end his mission and goes home to Spain. So we are going to work extra hard to finish his mission strong. Next time it is transfers ill try to let you know so you can write me on Tuesday night instead of Sunday.
So the trip to St. George would have been great. Staying there over night, did you see the cousins at all? I still remember that trip we had a few years ago, wow time flies by. I have moved on to a new Cd now, it was the one from Nila called Songs of the Savior Vol III. I really enjoy listening to it, the Garretts are such great singers. I also got a letters from Elder Crisp(which he sent me one before he got my letter to him), the Crisp family with the entire seminary class, and also from Uncle David. Tell them thanks for the letters, I enjoyed reading them and Ill sent return letters as soon as I can. Maybe today!
On the Book of Mormon Challenge I am doing so great, I am now in Mosiah chapter nine. I really am learning a lot from this activity and I have a greater perspective on what it all means and how it applies to me. It is awesome!
Zone Conference was this week and it was a special one because we got to meet our new mission president, President Preston and his wife Sister Preston. They are so funny and they are great people. I had a great opportunity to get to know him a little better when he sat next to me at the lunch break and we talked about who we are. I really enjoyed it and I know that he is going to be great for the mission.
One thing that happened this week is that we have received a new investigator who is really starting to progress. Her name is Yvette and she is so great. She is about her late thirties and she has two kids, one who is eighteen and doesn't live with her and another who is three and his name is Finley. They are so nice and very interested in the Book of Mormon. On the second visit she had some great questions, one particularly about Nephi and how he was commanded to kill Laban. She wondered why when it was a commandment not to kill. I was not present during that lesson because I was on an exchange but Elder's Caballero and Wright handled it pretty well and answered her question.

She continues reading the Book of Mormon and wants to learn more about the Prophet Joseph Smith and his life. One specific need that we are working on with her is that we are trying to help her to identify the Spirit. I know that as she continues to learn more each day as she studies the scriptures and meets with us regularly she will begin to notice the change in her life.

I had an exchange this past week too. I was with Elder Burgoyne, who is an excellent missionary. We really got to know each other a lot better and we both enjoyed our experience together. One thing that will always be a memory for me is when we knocked on the house that Gordon B. Hinckley lived at when he served in Nelson. The spirit was so strong when we were there and we didn't want to leave. In fact I think we knocked a few extra times hoping we would get an answer at the door.

We are expecting great things to happen this transfer and I hope that you have a great weekend. I'll talk to you on Monday, love ya.

Pictures July 4th

July 4, 2011

Happy 4th of July! you bet I got my Spanish companion singing at the end of the hymn book. In fact it was my country tis of thee. I also started listening to the last Cd from you, called America's Choir. It is awesome, some of my favorite songs ever! Come Come ye Saints, just put it on repeat. I enjoyed reading your letter, thank you. It sounds like a good old firework show that i missed out on but that's ok. Riley is having a good time in California with Stephen and Brennan, awesome. Sounds like a ton of fun. I sent Ethan, i mean Elder Crisp a letter last Wednesday, so he should be getting a letter from me soon. I want to try to keep in touch with him throughout the mission. So everything is going good with the Red Fox Upholstery it seems like still keeping busy that's good. Keep it rollin'

Yeah I can send the money order to you and you can place it in my bank, i can just pull the money out in England and it will only cost me 5 dollars just to take it out of the ATM! that's probably the best way unless you want to send actual money. Let me know what you want to do, but Ill send it to you as soon as I can.

I have seen that picture from President Bullock, I think there is something wrong with the angle because the Missionary on the opposite side is taller than me. So I look really big but trust me I'm not that big. Sorry. maybe in another year or so. I just do my normal push ups and sit ups every day so its not doing much for me.

I had a few exchanges this week also. I really enjoyed both of them. One of them was with Elder Jolliffe my zone leader and also another with Elder Gallacher, an AP. On each exchange we had a good amount of finding and I really learned a lot from them on how to be a more effective missionary when it comes to talking to the contacts. Just by the little words you can change in the sentence makes all the difference on whether they make an appointment or not. I expect great success in the near future from this.

We have found a new investigator named Seb (Sebastian). During the exchange with Elder Gallacher we taught him on the spot near Ramsbottom town center (aka Rammy, as the locals call it). We have never been to Ramsbottom yet because it is a difficult area to get to with infrequent buses. He has accepted to meet with us again and also has committed to a date for baptism. We are planning to see him tomorrow and we talked to him on the phone and he said he will be there for us. Can't wait, its going to be great.

We also went to the Chorley stake Sports Day. I really enjoyed it for the time I was there. There were a large number of less active members from our ward that were there to soak in the sun and have an enjoyable time. I think the Sports Day was a success for the Chorley stake.

I am learning so much from my study every morning. My study journal is so great it is really looking well nice. I also am moving along on the B of M challenge, I am understanding so much more from when I read it the first time. It is all beginning to make sense to me. I will never miss an opportunity to miss out on personal study, every second counts.

Well I hope you have a great week and Ill talk to you next week, Love yah.

Love Elder Tucker Corbin
